Hand-built clay works are often informed by sojourns out into the desert regions of the Southwest. Working with multi-colored clays and often times firing in a soda kiln provides unique surfaces and colorations due to the intense volatile relationship of sodium as it is dispersed into the kiln chamber. This explosive chemical reaction is as magical as the captivating lichen formations, rock crossings and desert life experienced. It is a spiritual renewal – engaging with the bio-cultural wisdom of natures’ regenerative ecosystem.
